Context

Moober is a ridesharing platform designed to streamline carpooling and Uber splitting for UC Davis students. I specifically worked on user research and marketing campaigns for user engagement for the product. Working with Moober has one of the most challenging projects since our initial struggle was to get the drivers who are willing to post their rides on our platform.

Problem Statement

UC Davis students face challenges coordinating carpools and splitting ride costs, particularly with the inefficiency of the Facebook Rideshare Group. Moober addresses these issues by offering a streamlined, affordable, and safe ridesharing platform that also helps drivers offset gas expenses.

Key Research Findings
  1. Safety and ease of use were top priorities.

  2. Users preferred immediate ride booking.

  3. Inconsistent Driver posts created problems for riders to search and book rides.

Understanding Existing Design Process

Visual Design: Contemporary color palette selection, Consistent typography hierarchy, Enhanced contrast for better accessibility

Accessibility Considerations: Contrast Ratios: All colors meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards for contrast, ensuring readability across devices and for students with visual impairments. Responsive Design: Components are designed to work seamlessly on both desktop and mobile interfaces, prioritizing a fluid user experience. Minimal Animations: Motion effects are subtle to enhance usability without overwhelming users or slowing down the experience. Visual Identity: To tie the design system together, Moober incorporates a friendly mascot logo—a playful cow driving a car that reflects UC Davis's association with agriculture and creates a sense of campus pride.

Moober's Key Features
  1. Student Authentication: Ensures safety by restricting access to UC Davis students.

  2. Ride Search & Booking: Simplifies finding and reserving carpools or Uber splits based on time, location, and cost.

  3. Driver Transparency: Displays driver profiles and ride histories to build trust.

  4. Accessible Design: Optimized UI for mobile and desktop platforms with intuitive layouts.
